On Sunlight

If you are seeking a powerful way to engage government as an individual, this is how we do it. It’s a technique used for years for all manner of advocacy. We can do it for democracy, too.

As we know supporters of democracy in the US Congress have been largely silenced by those who have abdicated their responsibility to protect the Constitution to the radical members of the Executive Branch. Their voices may have been quelled; HOWEVER, the people can still speak.

There are THOUSANDS of public speaking opportunities all around the country. They happen every time there’s a local, county, or state public meeting, including municipal government, school boards, and other public meetings.

It is the state Sunshine Laws that make this possible, and we can still use these laws to get our message out demanding restoration of our democracy and the norms we know and need.

Protests are great, and must happen, but we can do this ourselves, individually, and we must take the opportunities as they are presented.
